When faced with issues or rumors, actor Piolo Pascual admitted he prefers to usually remain silent instead of addressing them directly.

“Bilang artista, sanay na akong pukpukin ng kung anu-anong issue. May mga pagkakataon na kailangang iaddress ang isang bagay pero mas madalas, pinipili kong tumahimik,” Piolo said in a video reiterating his support for Vice President Leni Robredo as the country’s next president.

Piolo also treated political issues the same way, opting to just silently observe instead of airing his sentiment, afraid that he might get criticized for giving his unsolicited opinion.

“Naisip ko, masyado nang magulo ang mundo para makidagdag pa sa samu't saring ingay. At hindi ko rin alam kung nararapat ba akong pakinggan. Hindi naman ako eksperto sa pulitika,” he explained.

But with the country’s future at stake on May 9, Piolo said he cannot afford to stay silent, stressing that silence is privilege that no one should enjoy at this time.

“Ang pananahimik sa ganitong panahon ay pagkampi sa mga pwersang nagpapahirap sa maraming Pilipino. Sa mga nakaraang araw, palakas nang palakas ang sigaw. Hindi na ito kayang isawalang-bahala ng bawat Pilipinong nagmamahal sa bayan,” he added.

“Bulong na ngayo'y isang malakas na ring sigaw, si Leni Robredo ang pangulo ko. Abogada, ekonomista, tapat, at walang bahid ng corruption,” he said.

To ensure that his decision to back VP Leni is the right move, the actor conducted a thorough research, started to listen to other people and opened his mind before finally airing his support for the Vice President.

Like many other volunteers, Piolo said he answered VP Leni's call to stand up and fight for the country and the welfare of the Filipino people, especially those who are in need.

“Pagkain sa mesa. Edukasyon. Maayos na kalusugan. Hindi ba't ito naman ang araw-araw nating pinagsisikapan para sa ating pamilya? This way, runners can pace themselves and freely strategize in accomplishing their target distance within the prescribed period. Progress is tracked using a GPS watch, a fitness band, a running app on a smartphone, or by taking a photo of the progress on the treadmill and submitting it via www.takbo.ph.

Sun Life Cycle PH: Family bonding on wheels
 

Nurturing the Filipinos’ growing love for cycling, Sun Life Cycle PH is back to take cyclists on fun and exciting routes that will run from Bonifacio Global City to Pasay City. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome to join. Categories for the Sun Life Cycle PH are: Tricycle Ride (100 or 500 meters) designed for children ages two to five; Kids Ride (30-minute Solo or Family Ride) for children between the ages six to 15; Short Ride (20 kilometers) for participants 10 years old and above; and Long Ride (40 kilometers) for participants 14 years old and above. Sun Life Resolution Run: Race to fight diabetes An exciting and energizing way to kick off Sun Life Philippines’ 125th anniversary in 2020, the Sun Life Resolution Run is a race that aims to get everyone into a healthy mindset as the year starts. Also hosted by Sun Life in select Asian countries, increasing awareness in diabetes prevention and management is one of the company’s advocacies that is especially crucial in the Philippines, as the disease has been declared as an epidemic in the country.

Two of the Philippines’ largest and leading multi-media conglomerate, ABS-CBN’s brightest stars Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga reunite in Star Cinema’s latest movie offering, “Last Night”.


The film, directed by hitmaker Joyce Bernal, is the reunion project of Pascual and Gonzaga after their box-office film “Starting Over Again” in 2014. This also serves as the big screen comeback of Gonzaga after her last film “You’re My Boss” in 2015.
In the film, Gonzaga will give life to Carmina, a bright-eyed, idealistic young woman who has given up on life. “Sometimes you feel na you always have it together but in reality, you are really broken in the inside”, she shares.

Pascual plays Mark, a businessman who has lost the will to live. Pascual identifies with the humanness of Mark. He understands how Mark was at the end of his rope and opted for his last resort to end all his worries.
“Naintindihan ko iyong pagiging human niya. Naintindihan ko iyong reason niya, kaya naintindihan ko iyong pagiging tao niya. As my character, I was reaching my boiling point kaya I wanted to end it. I was coming from these troubles na kinasuotan ko, and being left alone --- parang that was my last resort (I understand him and his reasons, human as he is. To channel my character --- I was reaching my boiling point which is why I wanted to end my life. I knew the troubles I got involved with, and being left alone --- that was my last resort)”, he expounds.

Their paths cross during the lowest points of their lives. Believing they are on to the last night of their lives, they make a pact that starts as a friendship and eventually blossoms into love.

As Pascual and Gonzaga mark the comeback of their team up with very different roles, producer Star Cinema, together with N2 and Spring Films take the bold move of exploring a new movie genre –-- night romance --– a tale of a dark but hopeful love story.

The unconventional screenplay is written by actress Bela Padilla. This is the fourth screenplay she has written, and the first to be produced by Star Cinema. “This is really one for the books for me,” Padilla gushes. “Ang laking honor na iyong script na sinulat mo from scratch, ang nag-produce pa Star Cinema, N2, at Spring Films; and director ko pa, Direk Joyce Bernal; ang artista ko pa, Toni and Piolo. What more can you ask for? (It is such a great honor that the script I wrote from scratch was produced by Star Cinema with N2 and Spring Films; and it is directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal, and stars Toni and Piolo. What more can you ask for?)
The film may be ‘dark’, but Gonzaga says it also sends a message of hope and love. “Mare-realize mo na ang sarap magmahal, ang sarap mabuhay, at ang sarap ma-experience ng buhay (It will make you realize how good it feels to love, to live, and to live life to its fullest.)”, she beams.

Padilla echoes Gonzaga’s sentiments and adds: “You want to give people hope. When there is darkness, there’s light. There will always be love”.
