Ajinomoto Philippines Opens Bulacan Factory to the Public for an Immersive Behind-the-Scenes Experience
6/30/2026 12:10:00 AMFor more than six decades, Ajinomoto has been a familiar name in Filipino kitchens. But beyond the seasonings found in pantries is a story of science, innovation, nutrition, and sustainability—one that Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) is now inviting the public to discover firsthand.
I noticed that factory tours have become more than just educational trips—they've evolved into immersive experiences that help people understand the journey behind the products they use every day. That's exactly what APC hopes to achieve with the launch of the World of Ajinomoto Philippines Factory Tour at its Bulacan facility.
Designed as an interactive learning experience, the tour takes visitors through the fascinating world behind one of the country's most recognized seasoning brands. From the discovery of umami, known as the fifth basic taste, to the science behind monosodium glutamate (MSG), guests gain a deeper appreciation of how Ajinomoto has been helping Filipino families create delicious meals for over 65 years.
The company recently welcomed members of the media for a preview of the newly launched attraction, showcasing the carefully curated experience that blends education with hands-on discovery.
Visitors begin their journey at the World of Hygiene, where proper sanitation practices are introduced before entering the production areas—a reminder that food safety starts with every individual who steps inside the facility.
From there, guests explore the World of Innovation, home to the production of Ajinomoto's dried goods. The tour offers a rare glimpse into how products are manufactured, packed, stored, and prepared for nationwide distribution under strict quality standards.
A highlight of the experience is the sensory activity centered on umami, allowing visitors to better understand the rich, savory flavor that has become an essential part of countless Filipino dishes.
The journey continues at the World of Chambers, where visitors witness the warehouse's highly organized operations. Products are carefully tracked, sorted, and readied for delivery through a coordinated system where safety remains the top priority.
According to APC President Daizaburo Koga, opening the factory to the public was inspired by the growing interest from schools, organizations, and community groups seeking meaningful educational experiences.
"We realized that our factory has a story worth sharing. This led us to design a more structured and engaging factory tour experience," he shared.
More than showcasing how products are made, the factory tour also reflects APC's broader mission of promoting healthier lifestyles and environmental responsibility.
Throughout the experience, visitors learn about the company's flagship initiatives, including I Love Veggielicious®, which encourages increased vegetable consumption, and BawAsin®, a campaign that promotes reducing salt intake without compromising flavor.
Sustainability also takes center stage during the tour. Guests can see APC's transition to 100% renewable energy and its pioneering use of a 40-foot electric vehicle (EV) tractor head and trailer wing van for greener logistics. The charging station, capable of fully powering the EV truck in just an hour and a half, demonstrates the company's continued investment in reducing its environmental footprint.
"We designed the factory tour so people can see what we mean by our 'Eat Well, Live Well' philosophy," Koga explained. "It is really about encouraging everyone to enjoy delicious, nutritious meals that positively impact well-being. All our actions are directed towards contributing to a healthier, more sustainable society."
The initiative also supports the Ajinomoto Group's 2030 Roadmap, which aims to help extend the healthy life expectancy of two billion people while reducing environmental impact by 50%.
Best of all, the World of Ajinomoto Philippines Factory Tour is free and open to the public.
Tours are held every Tuesday and Thursday, with morning sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and afternoon sessions from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A minimum of 15 participants is required per session, while larger groups may arrange special schedules with advance notice.
