Kamkam or Greed is a movie that depicts the reality happening even in a very small community. It is a symbolism that even in an urban poor communities the corrupting power of patriarchy lurks in that breeds absolute power that destroys families, relationships and most of all of communities.
Recently, bloggers were invited to partake in the previewing of the movie, Kamkam. I was delighted to be part of the first few people to have watched the film Kamkam. The movie indeed shows what it is really like in a small community I even thought that it was like the place that I know but then again it was not because the movie was shot somewhere in Cavite. According to them the movie is a mix of different real life stories which the creator of the story interviewed and talked to. So the film is almost like a real life story. The story is written by Jerry Gracio and directed by one of the known people in the industry, Direk Joel Lamangan.

The film Kamkam (Greed) revolves around the story of its main character Johnny (portrayed by Allen Dizon) who marries Shane (played by Jackie Rice) for the third time and took her to their house in Sitio Camcam together with his other two wives Salud (played by Jean Garcia) and Evelyn (portrayed by Sunshine Dizon). Johnny is the kingpin in their community and all illegal things happening in that place are under his control. Johnny became more concern in the community braces for a demolition threat but with an intention of keeping his illegal activities. Until one day, Johnny was found dead which leaves a mystery of who killed him?

The story line of Kamkam is very familiar to us, especially those living in small urban community, the story of the little kingpin in a community where every one dares not to touch them.  These little petty things happens in small communities where right are turned to wrong and wrong to right.  Each character of the story reflects different personalities in each of us where we can relate to.  It may show social issues but it boils down to one thing, the individual itself.  The artists portrayal of each characters have delivered it well which made it more realistic and true to life story.  The location and setting of the story adds up to the portrayal of the character and of the story itself.  Making the entire film convey the true intention of the movie, corruption and power starts with greediness.
Kamkam (Greed) starred by Jean Garcia, Allen Dizon, Sunshine Dizon and Jackie Rice together with other actors Emilio Garcia, Elizabeth Oropesa, Jaime Pebanco, Kerbie Zamora, Joyce Ching, Lucho Ayala, Rita De Guzman Hiro Peralta and introducing Athena Bautista and Zeke Sarmenta.
