It seems that this Mom got plenty of things to know and remember for my boys. And since surfing is one cool thing to do, especially when you live near the beach, I think my kids will definitely get into this sports or much more of their summer getaways. Since summer is on its peak already one brand, Reef, in which I attended rolls out their newest fashion collection introducing “Swellular Technology” in their Rover Collection. The collection shows their head-to-toe outfits which shows Reef's Just Passing Through mentality. It is a style that are relaxed yet cool, a laidback summers and great waves. It happens at the Bay side of SM MOA.
Reef highlights their footwear Swellular Technology which is made up of three distinct layers. The first part is a super-soft, contoured Swellular foam deck for comfort, followed by a medium-density Swellular midsole for support and finally, Reef's signature Swellular high-density rubber outsole. According to Carlo Dionisio of Reef Philippines, "The Outsole is an example of Reef's commiment to form and function, with tread patterns that mimic lines of ocean waves and ultimate comfort, support, traction, and versatility."
Aside from the fashion show presented during the event, Reef debuts a documentary film about surfing lifestyle here in the Philippines. The documentary is entitled Surf7107 and it is produced by Reef which shows and tells how surfing started in La Union. The positive impact of surfing in a small town where one of the country's first surf schools was opened becomes evident. The community thrives as it grows into a tourist destination with surfing as the key attraction. It shows how job opportunities for surfing instructors as schools open, not to mention the related business generated from these activities.
A bit of history about how Reef started. Reef was formed in the early 80's by Argentinian brothers Fernando and Santi Aguerre. Combing their strong entrepreneurial spirit with their passion for surfing, the brothers built Reef as the top sandal brand in La Jolla, California. Their innovative sandal design, the Striped Smoothy, known for its bold stripes and comfortable foot bed, has become a classic and continues to be a top seller. Reef's official Birthday which is recognized as "Saint Reef" day is Monday Novermber 26th, 1984.
