One of today's blooming young teen actresses and GMA Artist Center's award-winning teen actress Therese 'Teri' Malvar is marking her name in the entertainment industry. One of her starring movie in the horror flick entitled "Ilawod" gave her very first achievement. In the movie, Teri plays the character of Isla who is a malevolent water spirit that haunts innocent victims and lures them into danger.
Yours truly was able to have a chit chat with this gorgeous and bubbly teen actress in an event at Sip & Gogh. It was great and one of the first thing that I'll be squealing is that this little lady loves to paint. Since the place is about painting I was also forced to do painting even though I'm really bad at it. But it was a good experience.







Another thing that I'll be sharing is that this young Kapuso actress started her career in the indie scene which earned her local and international recognition. It was a big break in small movie that gave her the opportunity. Here are some interesting things and facts that you might want to know about Teri. Sshhh don't tell her that I squealed some here on this blog.

1. Teri won the Best Actress Trophy in the first CineFilipino Festival Awards for her role in "Ang Huling Cha Cha Ni Anita." Among the other nominees were Nora Aunor and Eula Valdes. Now that's some tough competition!
2. When Teri was cast for the lead role in "Ang Huling Cha Cha ni Anita," she had no acting background other than joining declamation contests in her school. She wasn't even supposed to audition for this film. 
3. At the age of 13, she is the youngest nominee of the Gawad Urian Awards for Best Actress. 
4. Last year, she took home the Best Actress Award at the 15th New York Asian Film Festival and 38th Moscow International Film Festival for her role in the indie film "Hamog." Along with actor John Lloyd Cruz, Teri is the first Southeast Asian actress to have won an award in the Moscow International Film Festival. 
5. Despite her many projects, Teri does not neglect her studies. She is currently a grade 9 student at the Sun Valley National High School in Parañaque.
6. In her free time, Teri unleashes her inner artist as she enjoys painting and doing calligraphy. 
7. Teri is also a certified book nerd! Harry Potter series and Tuesdays with Morrie are among her favorites. 
8. Not known by many, the 16-yeard old actress has a hidden talent for singing. 
9. Before she developed the passion for acting, Teri's dream was actually to become a nun.
10. Aside from Ilawod, Teri is also part of the indie film "Sakaling Hindi Makarating".
