We all easily judge women in a complicated relationship; we never seek first the reason behind of it. This movie teaches us not to be judgemental, just what Director Olivia Lamasan explained during the Bloggers Conference “Who are we to make judgement?” The movie The Mistress doesn’t encourage being a mistress but an eye-opener to the reason and the result of the act. As Director Olivia/Inang quote “Nothing justifies a wrong act, not even love.” The sweetest love team marks their 10th Anniversary with the release of the movie The Mistress. It is their most challenging role as they transition into a mature role. The film is a very complicated four way love story played by John Lloyd and Bea as JD and Sari together with great actor and actress Ronaldo Valdes and Hilda Koronel.


At first the concept was to create and conceptualize a movie for Bea Alonzo but later on they come up with this idea of a man falling in love with a mistress. And we all know the perfect partner for Bea, none other than John Lloyd Cruz.


According to John Lloyd Cruz when this movie was offered to him, he eventually says “Oo (Yes)” before seeing the script and knowing what was the story all about. For him, he couldn’t say no to Director Olive.


During the Bloggers Conference the questions and inquiry of the bloggers were answered with gusto. I think they’ve shared enough sincerity and honesty with their answers. Here are some of their answers which are great to be used as quotable quotes.

Another indie film that hits the mainstream, Bwakaw is a critically-acclaimed first independent film by Jun Robles Lana. The film recently won the Best Actor Award (Eddie Garcia), Audience Choice Award, and the Netpac Awards in the Director’s Showcase Category in the 8th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.

Bwakaw is a movie that I’ve thought of about greediness but I was intrigue and curious because the film is a drama-comedy. It tells a story of an old man named Rene who looks forward of his death. He thinks that it is too late for him to feel love and all that is to look forward to is death. Rene has a dog named Bwakaw, who follows him wherever he goes. Bwakaw is Filipino slang for greed.

For an average viewer who’s not well aware of the present issues in the society, this movie will be just another sad and funny movie to watch and enjoy but for those who truly knows what is happening this could be an eye-opener and a lesson as well.

I would rate this movie a well rounded good for story and great for their acting.

Perhaps I could consider the “Captive, Even Choice Is Not an Option” a good documentary film because it does not only shows the details of events but also shows some of the things like the culture of the member of the armed group and how they live their lives. The film had shown a linear flow in order portray the important events.

It adapts the story pertaining to the events that had happened during the Dos Palmas kidnapping in 2001. Director Brillante Ma Mendoza fearlessly gambles on this film just to portray how an individual reacts on situations being held captive and threatened by certain group.

Isabel Huppert, a French actress, played the role of Therese Burgoine, a French national and a volunteer social worker for a non-government organization based in Palawan. If you will try to peel off the thoughts of the film it is quite intriguing because the story shows negative sides of both the government and the armed group. Though, 25 percent of the film consists of fictitious characters and places, it still shows as if it is real.

Other casts of the movie are Sid Lucero, Angel Aquino, Ronnie Lazaro, Raymond Bagatsing, Rustica Carpio, Maria Isabel Lopez, Mon Confiado, Mercedes Cabral, Kathy Mulville, Timothy Mabalot and Coco Martin. The film will be shown in theaters nationwide on Sept. 5.

Chances of being in a press conference is limited and being there gives a writer a heads up on what to write about the upcoming movie and I’m fortunate enough to be part of the new media covering this press conference of the movie “Biktima”.


Cast by two of Philippine cinema’s reliable performers Cesar Montano and Angel Aquino join forces with a young and passionate director, RD Alba in a dramatic thriller movie titled as “Biktima” which hits theaters on September 19. Shot entirely in picturesque yet perilous Bohol, which happens to be Cesar Montano’s hometown.

The story of Biktima is about a female TV reported named Alice de la Cruz which was played by Angel Aquino who wants to make something else outside of her being a wife and a mother. As a news journalist for a local TV channel, Alice sets off on a dangerous trek to the island of Kamandao in Bohol against her husband Mark’s (played by Cesar Montano) warning.


In the midst of an attack by insurgents, Alice is believed to have died in the ambush with her fellow reporters. Devastated and left to care for their son, Alice’s husband Mark turns to the former’s best friend Sandra, which was played by Mercedes Cabral, for solace and love.

Things seem to have gone back to normal for Mark and Sandra until Alice is found alive after six months, her memory almost totally erased. Husband and wife get back together but then the missing pieces of what happened in the months that she disappeared fall into place and this triggers psychological scars to unravel and gradually erupt into an explosive crescendo. The turn of the story starts.

Together with other actors and actress Sunshine Cruz, Ricky Davao and British-born actor Philip Anthony fills up the casts of Biktima.
